Petite models...we need more in the industry!

Okay...first blog. :)

Petite model:

As  petite model myself, It has been hard to get work in the industry especially as modelling agencies have a minimum height requirement at a 5'8" .Which is why I have been working as a freelance model over the last two years. I believe every woman should get a chance to show her talent and beauty no matter what height they are.

The modelling industry is incredibly unfair when it comes to hiring models. I agree with some requirements and there has to be some rules to follow, but I do not think height should be one of the requirements. I believe that it is wrong to only want to hire aspiring models/models who are  over the average height. Many models are very tall and thin...it is not what a normal woman would look like. (There have been several campaigns for 'the bigger woman'  And over the last few years, to be a a plus size model, isnt looked down upon as it use to be. There are many 'plus size' women agencies and clothes ranges now. This shows that to campaign in the same way...surely will get the 'petite model' noticed and into the industry.

There have been several petite clothing ranges added to woman's clothes shops over the last few years. Including shops which are known worldwide such as h&m, Topshop, new look etc. But there seems to be the same models modelling them.

We need to get out there and show them what we have got , that smaller women can be as beautiful and hardworking as the tall/thin models , and that we are capable of succeeding in the modelling industry.

I am so happy there are groups started up to promote petite models such as: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_164668910236144

Its a step forward!. (as the group has many different people from different locations based over the UK and maybe elsewhere)  I feel we should now start organizing our own group shoots, including models, photographers, make up artists, hair stylists, wardrobe stylists and clothing designers. based in our own local areas. This will allow more exposer to the people involved and talent can be shared.

If any one has any ideas or agrees with the idea please contact me via the group or here. You could also contact me via email. charlye.model@gmail.com
